Abstract
This research titled The word ‘Over’ as Prefix and Preposition and Its Expression in Indonesian: Morphosintax Analysis. The purpose of this research is to analyze and describe the syntactic and semantic on the word ‘over’ as a prefix and as preposition, types of verbs that are attached to the word ‘over’, and the meaning described by the word ‘over’ in Indonesian. The method used in this research is descriptive. The data used were taken from the Corpus of Contemporary American (Coca). Theories used in this are research theories Quirk (1985), Richard (1985), and Wishon (1980). The results showed that the word ‘over’ as a preposition attaches to noun phrase and has lexical meaning ‘pass, direction and above’ in Bahasa ‘melewati, arah, dan di atas. And the second over has function as a prefix. The word over as a prefix attached to the root is used to express a new meaning by modifying the word so that a new word is formed. The overhead is attached to the following types of words: (i) Over + Adjectives; (ii) Over + Verbs; (iii), forming the word verb and meaninglessly exaggerated; (iii) Over + Noun. Shaping the noun word type and meaningless excessive and along. as prefix reveals new meanings, namely ‘too much, (excess), cover, cross’; and ‘over’ has aspectual or semi idiomatic and idiomatic meaning.
