dc.description.abstractIn Japanese there are 4 types of writing, namely kanji, hiragana, katakana, and romaji. Of the four types of writing used in Japanese, starch writing not only expresses the sound symbol but also expresses the symbol of meaning. Kanji can be formed from a combination of two or more kanji. It is called kanji jukugo. In terms of how to read, there is something called Wago Jukugo, which is compound kanji which is read using Japanese or Kunyomi reading methods? This study aims to find out what kind of meaning resulted from the process of forming the wago jukugo with a case study on the Ningen shikaku novel by Dazai Osamu. The results of this study concluded that the meaning of wago jukugo contained in the Ningen shikaku novel by Dazai Osamu in addition to lexical meaning, also contained the meaning of idioms (full and partial), connotation meanings, and denotations.en_US
