Abstract
Broadband access nowadays are very important, especially to satisfy every user demands and supporting a new real time services. Ones of the need is the presence of voice service and WiMAX, as a Broadband Wireless Access solution for Wireless MAN, covering a very large distances with high throughput and is a promising technology for Next Generation Networks, configured with various scheduling service class with different quality. Best Effort (BE) and Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS) as a Scheduling service class that can be configured on WiMAX. In this paper the performance of voice service over a WiMAX network using BE and UGS service classes has been investigated. To analyze the QoS parameters, the WiMAX module has been developed based on popular network simulator Opnet Modeler is used. Parameters that determine QoS using two scenarios, which is the user, are moving with different speed and user are stand still in one single place is analyzed. The objective is to compare between BE and UGS service classes with respect to the QoS parameters, such as throughput, packet loss, delay and jitter.
