    MAJAS PADA ALBUM AM KARYA ARTIC MONKEYS: KAJIAN SEMANTIK

    This thesis is entitled "Majas on the AM Album by Arctic Monkeys: Semantic Studies". The purpose of this study is to identify the figure of speech and meaning contained in the AM album by the band Artic Monkeys. This study uses the main theory of XJ Kennedy on figure of speech and John Lyons on meaning. The research method used in this study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. From the results of the study found 4 types of figure of speech, namely: (1) figure of speech hyperbole (Hyperbole) found as many as 6 data, figure of speech metaphor (metaphor) found as many as 14 data, figure of speech personification (Personification) found as much as 3 data, and figure of speech simile (simile) found as many as 7 data. (2) obtained 3 types of meaning, namely 28 contextual meanings (94%), 2 grammatical meanings (6%).
