- ItemBLENDED LEARNING METHOD FOR TEACHING READING: The Benefit Impacts for Non-Regular English Class Program(International Journal of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Vol.24, Issue 02, 2020) Sari, Puspita; Simatupang, Ervina CMCurrently e-learning program has been a warm conversation in the world of education so that it can be meaningful way chosen by individuals who want to study, both in regular class and non-regular class. It turns out to greatly affect the learning method used teachers in presenting the material as increasing sophistication of technology. One of the methods used is a blended learning method. This research aims at investigating the benefits of using blended learning in teaching reading class for non-regular English students of the second semester. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis one. In this research students are facilitated by using blended learning method which is essentially a combination of learning excellence that is done face- to- face and virtually. Students should follow 16-week learning process to study Reading for Basic Strategies subject consisting of some activities as follows (1) downloading material every week, (2) taking part in forum discussion virtually (3) completing quiz and assignment, (4) doing mid test and final test, and (5) joining face to face meeting.
- ItemEFFECT OF HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WORK TO PERFORMANCE EMPLOYEES IN LIMITED COMPANY KSS BANDUNG(Journal of Advanced Research in Dynamical & Control Systems, Vol. 11, 03-Special Issue, 2019) Dyahrini, Wien; Simatupang, Ervina CMIn addressing the importance of the influence of Occupational Health and Safety (OHAS) to the employees of the operational performance of limited Company (PT) KSS Bandung need attention. This study aims to determine the application of Occupational Health And Safety Management System (OHSMS) conducted at Limited Company (PT) KSS in implementing safety management systems and occupational health and safety (OHSMS) in its operations as a contractor in the construction field. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. According to the research done shows that Limited Company (PT) KSS has implemented OHSMS well by setting some rules, policies, and procedures appropriate work that aims to prevent and reduce the potential danger of accidents arising in the work process. This is proven by the results obtained in the study that the accident happened is relatively small, meaning that the system safety management and occupational health (OHSMS) on Limited Company KSS was good that there were no accidents that can result in death to workers, does not occur their heavy work accident, because each value is 0, and what happens is just a light accident with the number 1 on a monthly basis only light accident or only reached 0.01%. Thus it can be said that (OHSMS) on Limited Company KSS has gone well and this gives the impact of high performance for the contracting company.
- ItemTHE EFFECT OF INVESTMENT INSTRUMENT OF THE PENSION FUND TOWARD RETURN ON INVESTMENT OF DEFINED BENEFIT PENSION PLAN FROM EMPLOYER PENSION FUND IN INDONESIA(Journal of Advanced Research in Dynamical & Control Systems, Vol. 11, 03-Special Issue, 2019) Alfiana; Simatupang, Ervina CM; Asikin, Bachtiar; Mulatsih, Listiana SriThis study aims to find out the investment instruments that have effect on return on investment of the employer pension fund in a defined benefit of pension plan in Indonesia (defined benefit pension plan from employer pension fund). The data used are investment instruments that are permitted for industrial pension funds, return on investment as the secondary data taken from monthly pension fund statistics in the period 2015-2016, and a defined benefit pension plan from employer pension fund industry uses multiple regression with the type of research verification. The results show that deposit certificates and asset backed security have a positive effect on return on investment defined pension plan from employer fund retirement, while shares and mutual funds have a negative effect. This research is useful for those who manage defined benefit pension plan from employer pension fund to allocate funds for investment instrument that results high return on investment because the managers have responsibility for loss and inability to pay employee pension fund and for the financial service authority. This research is also useful to make policy changes about fund allocation limit that are allowed, and the investment instrument that can be used for defined benefit pension plan from employer retirement funds in order to get maximum profit.

The development of mobile phone has contribution to understand and speak English easily with the invention of Transliter application. This application help people to improve and enhance their English ability, especially enhancing vocabulary knowledge. This study is aimed at investigating the effectiveness of Transliter application in enhancing vocabulary knowledge. Transliter application has been used as travel dictionary by tourists to communicate with people who they meet around the world. The writers analyzed that this application is can be used to achieve the course learning that is increasing vocabulary knowledge. With the technology of smart phone, people have big opportunity to learn what they want to know and master it. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The writers described and analyzed the data based on observation.
- ItemIMPLEMENTATION OF THE REGULATION OF PENSION FUND INVESTMENT INSTRUMENTS AND THEIR IMPACT TOWARD THE RETURN ON INVESTMENT INDUSTRY OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTION PENSION FUNDS IN INDONESIA(Journal of Advanced Research in Dynamical & Control Systems, Vol. 11, 03-Special Issue, 2019) Alfiana; Simatupang, Ervina CM; Putri, SiskaThis study aims to find out which investment instrument choices have an impact on the profits of the financial institution pension fund industry, measured through Return on Investments. This research is an explanative study with monthly statistical data (monthly pensions fund statistics) financial institution in Indonesia, using multiple regression. The results showed that the investment services by the financial services authority for the pension fund industry were Asset Backed Security, Bond, Building, Central Bank Bond, Certificate Deposit, Investment Collective Contract, Deposit On Call, Direct Placement In Share, Government Bond, Land, Land and Building, Medium Term Notes, Mutual Funds, REPO, Savings, Shares, Stock Option Contracts, Sukuk, Time Deposits there are only three investments that have an impact on return on investment, namely Sukuk, and Asset-Backed Security which had a positive impact while Share had a negative impact on the benefits of the financial institution pension fund industry. This research is useful for industrial pension fund financial institutions in investing their funds in order to generate a high return on investment as well as the financial services authority in making changes to instrument policies and the proportion (allocations) investment of pension funds.
- ItemINVESTIGATING APPLICATION FOR PRESENTATION IN LEARNING ACTIVITIES(Solid State Technology Volume: 63 Issue: 4, 2020) Simatupang, Ervina CM; Awwali, Jasmine Nadira; Soewandi, Maureen Saskia; Agus, Naila Syalsabila; Capryan, ReskoThe title of this study is Investigating Application for Presentation in Learning Activities. The aim of this study is to identify the dominant application used by students in their presentation tasks and what are the reasons students use the application. The method used is this study descriptive analyses. Data collected are used from 20 students by giving questionnaires in 3 universities in Bandung. The theory used in analyzing the data are Lin (2003), Vgotsky (1986) and Dewey (1938). This study reveals that 14 out of 20 students chose PowerPoint slides for presentation as it is simpler, easier to use, and no need internet connection. Whereas result from male questionnaire reveals that they chose to use canvas as it has feature for creating graphic or poster needed in their presentation. It can be concluded the result of this research shows that Microsoft Office PowerPoint is used by most of universities students (14 out of 20) in learning activities especially for delivering materials. Out of the 20 respondents, it can be shown that the most used application for presentation goes to Microsoft PowerPoint with 14 users (66,70%), six others voted for Canva (28,60%) and one other does not use any of three application choices. The reason students choose this application since it is considered simple, easy to operate, that there is difference between female and male in choosing application for presentation. Female want application which is easy to use, but male prefers application which provides more features to explore.
- ItemTRANSITIVITY IN GRETA THUNBERG’S SPEECH IN THE UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT: A Functional Grammar Approach(Solid State Technology Volume: 63 Issue: 4, 2020) Simatupang, Ervina CM; Ginanjar, Shaskya Salsabilla; Kurnia, Egi Putra; Hapsari, Dian Putri; Amalina, Neysa NurThe study aims to analyze and describe the transitivity and the meaning of Gretha Thunberg’s speech in The United Nations Climate Session. The method used in this study is the descriptive qualitative method as opposed by Moleong (2007) by watching the video, transcribing the speech, classifying the transitivity and the meaning in the data, analyzing the transitivity and the meaning within the data. Data sources are collected from the speech of Greta Thunberg in a YouTube video entitled Greta Thunberg to world leaders: 'How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood' uploaded by a YouTube channel named Guardian News. The theories used in analyzing the transitivity of the speech are from Halliday (1985), whereas in analyzing the meaning is by using the theory from Downing (2006). The results show there are (6) six transitivity processes used: Material (19%), Mental (19%), Existential (8%), Behavioral (7%), Relational (43%), and Verbal (4%). The most dominant process that is used in Greta Thunberg’s speech is the Relational process. The writers find three types of meanings that are used: Literal (69%), Semi-idiomatic (8%), and Idiomatic (23%) meaning. In her speech, Greta Thunberg tends to explain the current condition of the earth, hence the relational process and literal meaning occurred frequently. She conveyed her message by providing statistics about global temperature rise and she wanted the listener to understand her message clearly.
- ItemThe Use of Swear Words in The Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA): Sociolinguistics Study(International Journal of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Vol. 24, Issue 2, 2020) Ten, Angela; Simatupang, Ervina CMThe title of this study is The Use of Swear Words in The Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA): Sociolinguistics Study. The aim of this study is to analyse and scrutinize the frequently used swear words in the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) in the view of their themes and functions. The method used in carrying out the study is descriptive analysis method. The source of data used is taken from the official website of the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA). The result of the research demonstrates that there are four frequently used swear words in the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA). They are motherfucker with 770 occurrences (2%), asshole with 2386 occurrences (5%), fuck with 11098 occurrences (22%), shit with 17008 occurrences (34 %) and damn with 18407 occurrences. There are four themes of swear words found: the religious theme, the scatological theme, the sexual activity theme and the mother (family) theme. All the four themes are represented with the same amount of data. There are four functions of swear words found. They are stand-alone functions: (1) expletive interjections (28%), (2) name-calling (29%); and slot filler functions: (3) emphasis (29%), (4) adverbial/adjectival intensifier (14%).
