Abstract: Firth, dkk (2004) stated that stress does not only give impact to the decreasing of the satisfaction towards working, but also becomes the largest variable to the intention to quit from an organization. Robbins (2008:370) identified 3 potential group of factors that are caused the stress, environment, organization and personality. This research titled “The Big Five Personality And Job Characteristics As Antecedent From Work Stress And Implications Against Intention To Quit (Case Study in Tirta Amarta Bottling Company, PT)”. The purposes of the research are to know the influence of ; personality factors toward the work stress, personality and work characteristics toward the work stress and the influence of the work stress itself toward the intention to quit. The method used in the research is descriptive analysis method by using questionnaire for collecting the data. The data collected then processed by using path analysis method. From the research conducted, it can be concluded that some personality factors influence the work stress. The big five personality factors are Openness, Conscientiousnes, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism. From those five factors Openness, Conscientiousnes, Extraversion and Agreeableness are the variables that give significant and negative impact towards the work stress. Neuroticism is the variable that gives significant and positive impact towards the work stress. The highest impact are Extraversion dan Neuroticism, while work characteristic variable gives significant and negative impact towards the work stress. And the work stress variable gives significant and positive impact towards the intention to quit. So, the higher the level of work stress is, the bigger the intention to quit will be.
