Abstract: ABSTRAK Judul skripsi ini adalah Analisis Kalimat Intransitif pada Novel If Tomorrow Comes karya Sidney Sheldon Satu Kajian Sintaktis – Semantis. Obyek yang diteliti pada skripsi ini adalah kalimat intransitif yang terdapat pada novel tersebut, yang kemudian dibagi lagi jenisnya sesuai dengan struktur kalimat dan jenis verba yang muncul. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif-analisis, penggunaan metode ini adalah dengan cara mengumpulkan data terlebih dahulu, kemudian disusun berdasarkan polanya, dan setelah itu dianalisis secara kajian sintaktis dan semantis. Hasil yang dicapai pada penelitian ini adalah (1) jenis kalimat intransitif tidak hanya berpola Subject – Predicator saja, tetapi berpola Subject – Predicator – Locative Complement, Subject – Predicator – Adjunct, dan Subject – Predicator – Complement of the Subject, (2) makna semantis yang muncul berupa situations, dan (3) jenis verba yang muncul menentukan makna dan pola kalimat intransitif.
Description: ABSTRACT This thesis is entitled An Analysis of Intransitive Sentence in Sidney Sheldon’s Novel “If Tomorrow Comes” as Syntactic – Semantic. The object that has been analyzed is intransitive sentence which is in ”If Tomorrow Comes”, a novel by Sidney Sheldon. Then it is divided into several types by looking its structure and kinds of verb that appear in the sentence. The method which is used in this thesis is descriptive-analyzed method by collecting the data first, then it is classified by looking its pattern, and finally it is analyzed as syntactic-semantic theory. The results from this thesis are (1) the kind of intransitive sentence is not only Subject-Predicator, but also Subject – Predicator – Locative Complement, Subject – Predicator – Adjunct, and Subject – Predicator – Complement of the Subject, (2) the semantic meaning which appears in intransitive sentence is situations, and (3) the kinds of verb that appear in intransitive sentence determine the meaning and pattern of intransitive sentence.
